In partnership with

Solo is a vibe. But solo forever? That's just isolation with a content calendar.

This week, every story points in the same direction: the creators building real things right now are building together — with other creators, with brands, with community behind them. And the platforms? They're finally catching up.

Let's get into it.

From The Archives: DM’s To Deeper Connections

Want to collaborate with me? I am open… Email me your ideas… [email protected]

What’s the hold up?

What's one collaboration you've been sitting on — a creator you've wanted to work with, a project you haven't pitched yet, a partnership you keep almost doing?

Hit reply and tell me.

I’ll go first… I am looking to reconnect with Toyota, which was at one time, one of my longest sponsor running… close to 8 years. I did extensive work with them over the years… from brand ambassador appearances, to road trips, speaking engagements and activation management. The pandemic and company turnover impacted my relationship but I just got a lead today… and I will be following up after I hit send on this newsletter… if its a legit lead, I will be sharing with all of you next week.

Ok, here is some of what is buzzing this week…

YouTube just rebuilt how brand deals work — and creators are at the center

YouTube retired its old BrandConnect platform and replaced it with YouTube Creator Partnerships, a Gemini-powered hub announced at NewFronts 2026. The system gives brands access to over three million YouTube Partner Program creators, using AI to match based on audience similarity and organic brand mentions — and allows creator content to be boosted as paid ads across Shorts and in-stream formats. The practical upside: creators who share channel insights with the platform appear 60% more often in advertiser search results. If you're a YouTube creator, this is worth paying attention to — the entire brand deal pipeline just moved inside Google Ads.

Instagram is making collaboration posts more powerful than ever

Instagram's collab feature has quietly become one of the best free reach tools on the platform. In 2026, you can add up to five collaborators per post, with no follower minimums — meaning any business or creator account can initiate or be invited to a collab, whether you have 100 followers or 1 million. When a post goes live, likes, comments, and engagement stats are merged across all profiles — so both creators win. If you haven't been using collab posts intentionally, now's the time to start.

The collab economy is no longer optional — it's the growth strategy

The data is in: co-branded campaigns achieve 3x higher engagement and 40% greater average order value compared to single-brand affiliate programs. And experts are clear on what the industry needs more of in 2026: investment in creators as strategic partners rather than short-term media placements, with long-term collaborations where creators are given creative autonomy and space to integrate products authentically. This isn't about chasing brand deals — it's about building relationships where everyone wins.

Reality Check / Creator Mental Health

The loneliest part of building is that no one tells you it's lonely

A Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health study put a number on something many creators already know in their gut. Creators face the financial pressure, the obsession over content performance, the burnout, the constant toxicity — and the isolation. What makes it worse: 54% of creators say they want access to peer-support networks or creator communities, yet only 27% are currently part of one, and 66% have never been part of a creator community at all.

Collaboration isn't just a business strategy. It's also the antidote to building alone. If you're in it solo right now, that's worth sitting with.

Resources & Opportunities

Grants for Creators — Active funding with May deadlines

Grants for Creators is a trusted grant-discovery platform serving 19,000+ creators, curating non-dilutive funding opportunities like grants, paid fellowships, pitch competitions, and accelerators. They currently have active grants with May 2026 deadlines across a range of disciplines — and their free tier gives you a preview of what's available right now. If you haven't bookmarked this, fix that today.

Creative Capital Award — Unrestricted grants for individual artists

The Creative Capital Award has funded over 1,000 artists since 1999 and recently expanded its reach. For the 2026 and 2027 grant cycles, Creative Capital is also awarding the State of the Art Prize — $10,000 unrestricted grants to one artist in every U.S. state and territory — selected through the same open call process as the main award. If you work in visual arts, film, performing arts, literature, or socially engaged forms, this one's worth a serious look.

This is for you if you are a podcaster

The collab model works especially well in audio. Podcast swaps — where two hosts appear on each other's shows — remain one of the highest-converting audience growth tactics available, and they cost nothing but time. Beyond swaps, consider: co-hosting a limited series with another podcaster in an adjacent niche, cross-promoting a single episode with a creator whose audience overlaps with yours, or pitching yourself as a guest specifically to shows that haven't covered your topic yet. One well-matched appearance can bring you more listeners than months of solo promotion. Start with five shows you genuinely love, then reach out like a human — not a pitch deck.
