The Roots
I'm George Torres also known as the Urban Jíbaro.
The Jíbaro is the Puerto Rican farmer… the one who works the land with his hands, knows every root by name, and understands that nothing grows without patience, intention, and deep respect for the soil. I carry that tradition into digital spaces.
I'm a cultural strategist and award-winning storyteller who has been building online since dial-up. I launched Sofrito For Your Soul in 1997, one of the earliest Latino cultural storytelling platforms on the internet, and I've spent nearly three decades working with brands like JetBlue, Toyota, HBO, AARP, as well as institutions like The United Nations, NYU, Columbia, and a few campuses at The State University of NY.
After years of helping major brands tell better stories, I turned my focus to the people those brands were talking to but never investing in.
Siembra Connect was born from a simple question I kept asking myself: what if creators had everything they needed to build something that actually lasts?
The Urban Jíbaro identity is about carrying your roots into new terrain. This platform is an extension of that, rooted in culture, built for the long game, and designed for people who've been told to play small.
