This week: Instagram is doing the most right now. New money for the posts you're already making, more say over what shows up in your own feed, and a couple of quieter upgrades that quietly change your workflow. This is the "Instagram did a lot, actually" issue — stick around for what's worth your attention and what's just noise.

If you want to find out what you have been missing…

Visit Instagram's Official Creator Hub

If you only bookmark one Instagram resource, make it creators.instagram.com. It's Meta's own hub for platform updates, monetization eligibility, and creator-facing policy changes — straight from the source instead of secondhand through a screenshot on Threads.

Use it to double-check anything you read here before it changes your content plan.

📈 What's Moving

Instagram is finally paying for photos and carousels, not just Reels

Instagram's invite-only Bonuses program — previously mostly a Reels thing — is expanding to pay eligible creators for high-performing photo posts and carousels too. It's paired with April's originality crackdown on static content, so the creators who actually get paid will be the ones making original slides, not recycled ones. If you've been treating carousels as a "just for engagement" format, this is the week to treat them as a revenue line.

Edits just got more organized

Instagram's video editor picked up project folders, bookmarkable text styles, and the ability to reorder projects with a long press. Not flashy, but if your Edits app has turned into a graveyard of half-finished drafts, this is the cleanup you didn't know you needed.

MENTAL HEALTH MOMENT

Algorithm Anxiety Is a Real Thing Now

Here's the tension in everything above: Instagram is giving you more dials to turn — control your feed, earn from more formats, customize your DMs — and somehow that doesn't automatically feel like relief.

There's a name for what a lot of creators are feeling instead: algorithm anxiety. Not burnout in the classic sense — more like chronic low-grade stress from trying to keep pace with a system that changes the rules while you're mid-post. Doomscrolling without payoff. Pressure to post daily or disappear. Comparing your Tuesday to everyone else's highlight reel, curated by a machine you don't control.

More control over the algorithm is a genuinely good thing. But control isn't the same as calm. You're allowed to use the new tools and still feel the tax of having to manage them. Turn the dials that actually help. Ignore the rest. The algorithm doesn't need your full attention — it just needs you to stop treating every setting change like a pop quiz.

This is for you if you are a... blogger

Everything Instagram shipped this week rewards static, original content — photos, carousels, slides. That's your home. A blog post is already a carousel waiting to happen: pull your best 8–10 points into slides, keep the writing voice intact instead of flattening it into generic caption-speak, and you've got a piece eligible for the new Bonuses program that also drives traffic back to the actual post. The algorithm finally caught up to what you've been doing all along.

Let Me Know

Instagram just handed you more control — over your algorithm, your monetization, your DMs.

Hit reply and tell me: when a platform gives you more control, does it actually feel like less pressure, or just more decisions to manage?

Until next time,

George 💚
