Hey Cultivators,

There was a time not too long ago where I was producing content every single day. Newsletter. Podcast. Posts. Calls. Comments. Replies to the replies. I was trying to run an agency, manage my Puerto Rican Parade client, rebuild the blog that was hacked, still do community work around Hurricane Maria recovery and creator development.

If you looked at the timelines, I was winning. In real life, I was running on fumes… and my work was starting to show it. I had no focus and it impacted so many different parts of my life.

I remember sitting at my laptop a Wednesday just like today, staring at a blinking cursor, and realizing I had nothing left to say. Not because I'd run out of ideas. Because I was running low on the passion that made me a creator in the fisrt place,

That was the lesson I keep coming back to, almost thirty years into creating online:

Rest isn't a reward for the work. It's part of the work.

Not a guilty pleasure between sprints. Not something you earn after the launch. Part of it. The same way watering is part of growing.

It is time to water your creative process.

I am writing a piece this week on the five mental health practices I think every creator needs — boundaries, support, self-care, I plan on sharing my truth based on my struggle

but right now, the practice underneath all of it is the one I had to learn the hard way:

  • You can't pour from an empty cup.

  • You can't hear your own voice when everyone else's is always in your ear.

  • You can't make your best work from a place of fear of falling behind.

So I put together something for you that you can read right now— a one-page Guide to Daily Descanso. It's the daily rhythm I actually use. Three ways to rest (body, mind, spirit), a simple checklist for the day, and a few journal prompts for when you need to sit with something.
