This Is What It Sounds Like When You Complain About The Algorithm

We have all seen an Instagram Live where the host starts the broadcast and decides to take the first 5 minutes or so to “wait for more people” to join.

It triggers me personally, because I value my time and I showed up ontime… and unless there is a guest that will lead the convo thats running late or having tech issues, I am not waiting.

Let’s break down why I feel the way I feel.

Imagine this: You’ve been invited to a party. Excited, you pick out the perfect outfit, carefully select a gift, and arrive early, eager to celebrate. As you step through the door, the host barely glances your way. His eyes scan over your shoulder as he asks, “Who else is coming?” You stand there, gift in hand, feeling invisible.

As the night goes on, the host hardly speaks to you. Their conversation revolves around that disappointment that more people didn’t show up. No matter what you say or do, you can’t shake the feeling that you’re just not enough in his eyes.

That’s the image that comes to mind when I hear creators complain about slow growth.

That’s how your followers feel when you focus on the numbers, chasing after more likes, views, and followers, rather than appreciating those who are already there. Just like at a party, when the host is too fixated on what’s missing, the guests who are present start to feel invisible, unappreciated, and less inclined to stay.

Every comment, every interaction, is a gift. Instead of wondering who else might show up, celebrate those who already have. True connection doesn’t come from numbers, but from gratitude and engagement with the people who’ve chosen to be part of your journey. They are the heart of your growth, and when you start appreciating them, that’s when the real magic begins.

Just planting seeds of mindfulness.

As I am,

George Torres
