Back in the thick of the pandemic, when the world felt upside down and uncertain, I had a unique opportunity to launch something I had in my idea book that was slated in my head for 2025.

After my days at Hispanicize, I wanted to plant seeds in the creator space for a different approach to healthy entrepreneurship. The opportunity arose when people in my network started reaching out looking for opportunities because they did not know if they were going to have a job by the end of the week. They were struggling with being remote and isolated from loved ones. We talked thru it, and once we started warming up to this pause and embraced it as a break from life… the conversations shifted. It started looking more like an opportunity to do all the things the regular work grind kept us from doing.

So I decided to create a small Facebook group to discuss these topics, and lend myself to sharing expertise that may be able to help. At the time, the #SiembraInitiative was a simple way to connect with others who were feeling the same weight of anxiety, isolation, and uncertainty. We needed a brave space to talk openly about what was really happening in our lives—beyond the screens, beyond the work. That group grew from 30-240 cultivators in two years.

What started as a few people sharing their struggles quickly grew into a community where creators, entrepreneurs, and dreamers alike could lean on each other. We opened up about mental health, stress, and all the unknowns, and it became a space for healing in a time when we all needed it most.

Today, even as the world finds its new rhythm, the mental health conversation remains as important as ever. Our minds carry the weight of daily pressures—especially in a world that often asks us to be 'on' all the time. That's why I want to focus this issue on mental health and the importance of finding support when you need it.

This conversation and has layers, I will weave it in to every issue in some way shape or form. and honestly some of these conversations will be niched at some point but I promise you, I will always be pushing us to always choose a healthier way to do what we love without subscribing to the hustle culture.

Today, I have curated some great articles and resources that will help you have the internal conversation of where you are and where you need to be, Everybody is going to be different, for some it will be awareness, others are in the mix and just need the tools to see things through and turn a burnout into a breakthrough.

This very project is my breakthrough from a serious burnout that led to very poor decisions in my personal life and how I was pivoting in my career. Now that I am free from what was possibly the worst three years of my life dealing with divorce, Hurricane Maria, the hacking of my website and all the loss around the big pause, I can honestly say that I am doubling down on my healing journey.

I say all this to say, if you’re still carrying the weight of burnout, stress, or just need someone to talk to, this week’s sponsor, BetterHelp, offers a place to start your own healing journey. Whether through phone, video, or even text, you can connect with a therapist who gets it.
