Siembra Lesson: 10 Effective Ways to Catch a Brand’s Attention

(Before You Even Pitch)

In partnership with

One of the biggest shifts in my creator journey was realizing that I didn’t have to wait for brands to find me—I learned how position myself to attract the right opportunities.

I’ve had the privilege of working with brands I truly love like Toyota, T-Mobile & Cubavera, not because I had millions of followers, but because I learned how to stand out, engage strategically, and build real relationships. And I’m here to tell you: you can do the same.

Brands are always looking for creators who can tell compelling stories, connect with their audience authentically, and drive real engagement. The key is knowing how to get on their radar before you even pitch.

So if you’re serious about landing brand deals, stop waiting and start positioning yourself as the obvious choice. Here are 10 effective ways to catch a brand’s attention and set yourself up for partnerships that feel aligned and rewarding.

Most creators think landing a brand deal starts with a cold email or a DM—but the truth is, your pitch should be the final step, not the first.

Brands are more likely to work with creators who already feel aligned with their mission and audience. Instead of chasing brand deals, position yourself as the obvious choice.

Here are 10 powerful ways to catch a brand’s attention before you even send a pitch:

1. Organically Feature the Brand in Your Content

Before brands invest in you, they want to see if you can actually drive engagement for their product. The easiest way to prove that? Start featuring them in your content before they pay you.

✅ How to Do It:

  • Showcase their product in an organic, natural way (not a forced “fake ad”).

  • Tag the brand when you post—but don’t just @ them. Instead, write a compelling caption that tells a story about why you love the product.

✅ Example: If you’re a fitness creator, post a ‘What’s in My Gym Bag’ video and include your favorite protein brand.

2. Engage with the Brand on Social Media (Strategically)

Brands are constantly scanning their comments, mentions, and tagged posts for creators who align with their values.

✅ How to Do It:

  • Comment on their posts with something meaningful (not just “🔥🔥 love this!”).

  • Reply to their stories with an insightful take or a personal connection.

  • Engage with their community. If people are asking questions in the comments, jump in and answer.

✅ Example: If a skincare brand posts about a new moisturizer, reply with:
“I’ve been using this for a month, and my skin has never been happier! Excited to see how others are loving it too.”

Why It Works: You’re adding value to the conversation—not just trying to get noticed.

3. Show You Understand Their Audience

Brands don’t just want exposure—they want to reach the right people. Prove that you can connect them with their target audience.

✅ How to Do It:

  • Create content that aligns with their brand’s ideal customer.

  • Share audience insights on your social media (polls, Q&A, etc.) that show your audience would resonate with their product.

  • Use relevant hashtags and trends that their brand is already tapped into.

✅ Example: If you want to work with a sustainable fashion brand, post about why your audience cares about eco-friendly style choices and tag the brand in the discussion.

4. Join Their Affiliate or Ambassador Program

Many brands have affiliate programs or ambassador programs that allow creators to earn commissions while promoting their products.

✅ How to Do It:

  • Look up the brand’s website and see if they offer an affiliate program.

  • Sign up, get a custom referral link, and start integrating the product into your content.

  • Track your results so that when you pitch later, you have data on clicks, conversions, and engagement.

✅ Example: A travel creator who wants to partner with a luggage brand can start as an affiliate, show how much their audience is engaging with the content, and use that as leverage for a bigger brand deal.

Many brands run UGC (User-Generated Content) campaigns, where they reshare content from everyday customers. Getting featured here increases your visibility with the brand’s marketing team.

✅ How to Do It:

  • Create a high-quality video or photo featuring their product.

  • Use their campaign hashtags and tag them.

  • Look at past UGC they’ve reshared and mimic that style to increase your chances.

✅ Example: A beverage brand that loves aesthetic coffee setups is more likely to share your content if it aligns with their current branding.

6. Leverage Your Blog, Newsletter, or Podcast

Brands love multi-platform exposure. If you have a blog, newsletter, or podcast, use it to start featuring their products in a way that drives organic reach.

✅ How to Do It:

  • Write a product review or mention their brand in a themed blog post.

  • Feature them in a newsletter roundup of your favorite products.

  • Discuss their product or mission on a podcast episode and tag them.

✅ Example: A business coach who wants to partner with a software company could write a blog post on “The Top 5 Tools I Use to Run My Business” and include their product.

This is is what I am doing today… are you subscribed yet so you can me in action?

7. Attend Brand Events (Even Virtual Ones)

If a brand hosts live events, webinars, or meetups, show up. Many brands take notice of engaged attendees and potential partnerships.

✅ How to Do It:

  • Ask smart questions in Q&A sessions.

  • Live tweet or post about the event while tagging them.

  • If it’s an in-person event, network with their marketing team.

✅ Example: A creator wanting to partner with a sneaker brand could attend their product launch event and create real-time content around the experience.

8. Find the Right Brand Contacts

(and Engage With Them)

Instead of pitching to a generic brand email, connect with the decision-makers.

✅ How to Do It:

  • Look up brand managers, PR reps, or influencer marketing managers on LinkedIn.

  • Follow them on social media and engage with their content.

  • If they post about influencer collaborations, comment with an insightful or supportive response.

✅ Example: If an influencer manager posts, “We’re looking for new creators to collaborate with this season,” reply with:
“I’d love to bring some creative ideas to the table—excited to see what’s in store!”

This keeps your name on their radar without sliding into their inbox just yet.

9. Create a Mini Brand Activation for Free

If you really want to stand out, don’t wait for permission—create your own micro-campaign.

✅ How to Do It:

  • Design a mini campaign featuring their product (a challenge, a giveaway, a themed content series).

  • Track the results—likes, shares, comments, reach.

  • Send the results to the brand with a proposal for a bigger collaboration.

✅ Example: A food creator wanting to work with a spice brand could start a “7 Days of Flavor” Challenge, featuring a different recipe each day using their product.

10. Build Your Authority in the Brand’s Niche

Brands love working with creators who have a strong, engaged audience in their industry. Become a go-to voice in their space.

✅ How to Do It:

  • Share industry insights, trends, and thought leadership posts in their niche.

  • Interview other experts or creators who already work with the brand.

  • Create content that educates your audience on topics related to their product.

✅ Example: A tech creator wanting to work with a camera brand could post educational content on photography hacks, gear comparisons, and editing tips.
