Keeping The Human Advantage
In the past week… I attended a few AI conferences created and hosted by Alicia Lyttle, Anik Singal and the dynamic duo of Ruby Garcia & Michal Tapia who launched the first Latino AI Summit. Each event had a very different focus but I was super excited that all 4 of these subject matter experts were people of color and were so generous with very moderately priced learning experiences.
I will share more as I start implementing some of the things I have learned.
This is what I already know…
Look, AI slop now makes up about a third of what we're all scrolling through on short-form feeds. And already people are tired of it. Platforms are tired of it but it is a necessary evil for them as they try to build stronger advertising revenue.
On platforms like Linked In, everyone's hunting for proof that there's an actual human behind the content.
But here's the thing… this isn't about proving you're real. It's about being more human in how you create.
My position on AI and how it helps you grow as a creator.
AI isn't the enemy. Using it wrong is. Let AI handle the boring business stuff that drains your soul…scheduling posts, repurposing content for different platforms, tracking analytics, all that administrative nonsense that keeps you from actually creating. Use it to buy yourself time and headspace for the work that actually matters: your unique perspective, your lived experiences, the relationships you're building with your community. That's the stuff no algorithm can fake.
Here's what this looks like in practice:
Go deep, not wide. Gaming the algorithm with volume? That playbook's dead. Your protection…your “advantage” comes from being the voice in your specific corner of the internet. Let AI crunch the numbers and handle distribution while you focus on building real expertise and sharing honest perspective.
Show your work. People want to see the human decisions behind what you make. Share your process. Talk about what didn't work. Ground your content in your actual location, your culture, your community. This isn't performative transparency…it's proof of authorship when everything else feels generated.
Remember your audience is made of people. Sure, use AI to spot trends and optimize when you post. But then actually talk to people. Reply to comments yourself. Build relationships that matter beyond someone double-tapping your content. The tools should make human connection easier, not replace it.
Your humanity is what they can't copy. Let AI be your assistant, not your replacement. Your perspective, your relationships, your hard-won expertise—that's what people are craving right now, swimming through an ocean of synthetic garbage.
If you're ready to stop feeling stretched thin and start showing up for both your life and your creativity… let's talk. Join me for a cultivation call.
